Change the number of emails stored on your iPhone

This article will go over changing the number of emails stored on your iPhone when downloading mail from your server. This applies to both POP/IMAP as well as Exchange.

POP/IMAP

  1. From the Home screen, click Settings.
  2. Choose Mail, Contacts, and Calendars in the Settings screen.
  3. Under the Mail section (not the individual account), there’s an option to Show. Change this from 50 (default) to 25, 50, 75, 100, or 200 recent messages.
  4. The next time your mail account connects, you will download that many emails from the server.

Exchange

  1. From the Home screen, click Settings.
  2. Choose Mail, Contacts, and Calendars in the Settings screen.
  3. Open the Exchange user settings. There will be a setting called Mail Days to Sync. This is set to 3 days by default and can be changed up to one month or down to a single day’s worth of email. This can also be set to No Limit.
